MOSTLY MERINO Yarns

So, how does this yarn happen? MOSTLY MERINO is a combination of hand selected merino wool and kid/yearling mohair fiber from my sheep flock and other New England small farm flocks, and fine Western US wool. These exceptional raw materials are custom spun at the Green Mountain Spinnery to create a natural light gray color yarn in both light-sport and worsted weights. The combination of natural fibers and expert spinning create a yarn that is full of character and will wear well with little or no pilling.

My color palette is of my own design, inspired both by nature, the Vermont landscape and memory. Each dye lot is individually blended, each yarn order hand-dyed. Though every color can be closely replicated, every dye lot is individual. Be sure to order enough yarn for your project.

Worsted weight: 2 oz./125 yard sks, 4 - 5 sts/inch.
Light Sport weight: 2 oz./250 yard sks, 5-7 sts/inch

“I sought a wool yarn of an authentic, artisanal quality, one that was soft but had enough body to show off the cables and give the jacket structure. I found it in Margaret Klein Wilson's “MOSTLY MERINO.” Teva Durham, Loop-d-Loop

Ordering Samples

To best appreciate the character and color compatibility of my yarn, I advise you order a samples kit. You can enjoy creating colorways with the generous tags of color on the shade card, swatch with the enclosed mini-skeins of both light sport and worsted weight yarn, and study the complete listing of kits and pricing. A complimentary “Stash Scarf” pattern is also included.

The fee for samples is $8.00 — you can leave your information on my secure voice mail at 802.254.7436 or send a check or MC/Visa number to me at MOSTLY MERINO, P. O. Box 878, Putney VT 05346 and I will send them out to you.
